The project aims to enhance, nurture, and protect the Aquadrome: striking a balance so nature can flourish and visitors connect with beautiful, unique habitats, gaining an understanding of the site’s heritage. Achieved by addressing: • Habitat enhancement: grassland management, creating meadows, ditch management, nurture wet woodlands. • Understand and manage waterflow and floodplain environment. • Reduce lake and riverbank erosion securing habitats and public access. • River restoration of globally rare chalk river. • Enhancement of marginal lakeshore habitats. • Targeted enhancements for priority species. • Introduce interpretation on niche habitats. • Replacement of pedestrian bridges. • Develop eco-friendly travel routes. • Vegetation and tree management to complement natural features. • Enhancing the step free access, improving sightlines and accessibility. • Upgrade footpaths and site furniture. • Create a sense of arrival, welcome area, accessible signage. • Introduce sensory trails. • Improve inclusion and participation to engage diverse audiences in heritage. • Involve community through orchard planting and training. • Implement communications plan, site narrative, branding.
