When you’re alone, we’re together: remembering Radio Orwell is a community project led by Cohere Arts working in partnership with Suffolk Archives. The aim of the project is to collect and secure first-hand memories of Radio Orwell, one of the UK's first commercial radio stations that broadcast to Ipswich and Suffolk residents from 1975 to 1992. The project will commemorate the 50 year anniversary of the station's launch in a public call out for memories and memorabilia relating to the radio station's heyday. Visually impaired community participants will develop skills in oral history collection, then facilitate interactive story-collecting events in Ipswich community settings. Audio recordings of recollections and digitalised artefacts will be committed to archive, preserving these primary accounts for future audiences.
