Wilder Luton

We will inspire communities in Luton to learn about their rare and beautiful natural heritage, acquire skills, and act to protect nature locally. We will work with young people to develop creative ways to engage with nature, linking their local actions to the global biodiversity and climate crisis. A new post focussing on youth engagement and training will co-ordinate work experience, events and volunteering in partnership with Luton Borough Council (LBC), Youth Network and Luton Orchards. Training in vanishing heritage crafts, such as Green Woodworking, will inspire new adherents and help keep these crafts alive. We will address barriers to access, creating new routes to careers and volunteering so everyone can take pride in their local environment. We will create a shared, inspirational, and welcoming drop-in space in the town centre and produce digital outputs to further raise awareness of the town’s natural heritage amongst harder to reach audiences.
