Windrush: Pathfinder

Seven Winds (SW) will celebrate and preserve the vital contribution of the Windrush generation to British heritage, primarily from the perspective of African Caribbean communities in Birmingham. Collecting vibrant personal histories, before it is too late, using digital platforms to synergise disparate strands of this history. Engaging people who are not usually involved in heritage. Increasing access and ownership through oral history, films, live and virtual experiences. Legacy: : ? New public archive: ‘Pathfinder’ – a ‘geospatial storytelling experience’. Making this important information more coherent and comprehensive (linking to Zooniverse) . ? Immersive 20-minute augmented reality interactive heritage ‘exhibit’. ? Wider public understanding. Addressing the mis-categorisation of people as immigrant or refugees, rather than the correct legal status as British (commonwealth) citizens. ? Highlighting the ‘Jet set’ cohort (children and grandchildren of original Windrush generation): new area of research. ?
