Witch! Unpacking hatred and Promoting Tolerance, Inclusion and Sustainability in our Modern World

‘Witch! Unpacking Hatred and Promoting Tolerance, Inclusion and Sustainability in Our Modern World’ seeks to preserve and share the overlooked history of the North East Witch Trials. Through historical research, interactive workshops and community engagement, the project will connect this heritage to contemporary issues of prejudice, gender inequality and environmental sustainability. 250 project beneficiaries will explore historical archives, trial records and heritage sites, engaging in expert-led seminars and creative activities including costume-making and sustainable crafts. A key outcome is a community-led docudrama and exhibition, ensuring accessibility and long-term impact. The project will promote inclusion by working with marginalised communities, fostering critical discussions on social justice, acceptance and encouraging sustainable living. By preserving this history and making it relevant to today’s challenges, we will inspire lasting community engagement and education, ensuring these stories are not forgotten while promoting tolerance, resilience and sustainability as key components of life in our contemporary world.
