Ynys Greigiog – Building Resilience at Ynys-hir Ynys Greigiog - Adeiladu Gwydnwch yn Ynys-hir

Ynys-hir is a special place. At the heart of the UNESCO Dyfi Biosphere, it is home to important numbers of Lapwing and Greenland White-fronted Geese and brings people from far and wide to enjoy the sights and sounds across the seasons. We have been given a unique chance to extend the reserve through the purchase of 65acres of land from the neighbouring farm, Ynys Greigiog. This type of opportunity does not come up often. The land consists of hilly areas, pasture, woodland and significant bog and wet woodland habitat. Being able to have management over this area would unlock hydrological features that are critical for sustaining and expanding our conservation capabilities at Ynys-hir. This strategic piece of land would be sympathetically restored allowing us to have greater resilience against the effects of climate change ensuring long-term sustainability of our important work at Ynys-hir and protecting the land for future generations.
