Culture And Memory
The ‘Young Women Remember’ project will work on the increasingly urgent need to collect, record and share the stories of support, connection and activism linked to YWCA Scotland before they are lost forever. Led by young women, we will curate oral histories, written testimonies, video interviews, images and archival material into a ‘living’ digital archive that will continue to grow with young women’s stories in the future. Young women will develop new skills and connect with the experiences of women who have gone before them. Young women in Scotland are currently facing seemingly insurmountable challenges such as the climate and cost of living crises. This project will showcase personal examples of how collective action can make a positive difference in the world, inspiring the next generation of young women to learn from the past and have the confidence to address contemporary issues together in their own innovative ways.
